GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

  • Abstracts for poster presentation ONLY will be accepted.
  • Abstracts must be submitted online via the submission link provided at the end of the page. Abstracts submitted by fax, email, or post will NOT be accepted.
  • The deadline for abstract submission is 31st July 2024. The online submission platform will close at 2359 GMT+8 on this date.

CONFIRMATION OF RECEIPT AND DECISION NOTIFICATION

  • Upon submission, you will receive an email confirmation acknowledging the receipt of your abstract
  • If you submit an abstract and do not receive an email confirmation, please contact the Secretariat at contact@mascot.org.my.
  • You will be notified via email about the status of your abstract by 5th Aug 2024.

PRESENTATION DURING THE CONFERENCE

  • Instructions for poster presentations will be provided along with acceptance notifications.
  • At least one author per abstract must attend the Conference and be present during the judging period.
  • The best poster presentation will have the opportunity to win exciting prizes.

PREPARING YOUR ABSTRACT FOR SUBMISSION

The abstract should be comprehensive and cover the following aspects:

Case Study
Title: A title that describing the case.
Introduction: Brief introduction to the case
Case description: A comprehensive description of the case, including background information, presentation, diagnostic evaluation, treatment provided, and outcome.
Discussion: Learning points and clinical relevance
Conclusion: Conclusion of the case report

Research based Study
Title: A title for the research
Introduction: Background and study aims
Methods: An overview of the research methods utilized.
Results: Summary of the findings
Discussion: Relevance of the findings, compare to existing literature and future direction
Conclusion: Conclusion from your research

Quality Improvement programme
Title: A title for the research
Introduction and Aims: Outline the practical issue at hand. Offer a succinct overview of the current understanding of the problem and its connection to the existing body of literature. Clearly state the objective of your project and the specific improvements you aim to achieve.
Intervention: Describe what change was implemented. Include the process used for implementing the change, specifically what model was used
Data Collection, Analysis and Results: Discuss your approach to measuring the effect of the change, specifically what measures were used. Detail how the data was collected, analyzed and interpreted. Provide a summary of what you found, including changes in your measures of interest
Discussion: Discuss the significance of your findings and the impact your change will have on your unit and the health care system as a whole. Outline the problems encountered during the process of change. Describe what you would do differently if you were starting again.
Conclusion and implications: Conclusion and implication from your quality improvement programme

Innovation and Creativity
Title: The Innovation’s Title
Introduction: A concise background of the encountered problem, its effects, and the statement of the problem.
Description and Features: A detailed general and specific description of the innovation, along with its features.
Impact and Cost-Effectiveness: An analysis of the innovation’s impact and its cost-effectiveness.
Conclusion: The conclusion and implications derived from the innovation and creativity project.

Abstracts must adhere to the following criteria:
Abstract title – Limited to 25 words
Abstract content– Limited to 300 words
Abstract topic – Any topic related to Emergency Medicine

Use standard abbreviations and avoid special or unusual abbreviations. If necessary, include them in parentheses after the first appearance of the full word.

All abstracts should be in clear English with accurate grammar and spelling suitable for publication. Authors are encouraged to have their abstracts go through a language check using a service such as American Journal Expert. A score of 7 or higher is recommended.
